Brazil: the traffic of Memory

Poster for a conference on the effects of the dictatorship on Brazilian culture during the 1964-84 military regime. Amid the post-dictatorship euphoria, the film Je Vous Salue Marie was banned in Brazil, raising anew the spectre of censorship represented in the poster through the resurrection of its metaphor, the scissors.
